What you can have inspected at our station

The status of a district vehicle inspection station means that, in addition to standard periodic inspections of passenger cars, we also handle heavy vehicles and specialist inspections. We provide a modern Cartec diagnostic line for your use. This is a convenient solution for carriers and fleet owners who want to combine a technical inspection with vehicle servicing.

We also carry out inspections covering the assessment of passenger car shock absorber efficiency, exhaust smoke levels and exhaust gas analysis, play in the steering and suspension systems, as well as the efficiency and adjustment of the vehicle's external lights.

If you are unsure whether your vehicle qualifies for a particular type of inspection, contact us — we will help determine the appropriate scope.

Frequently asked questions

Do you carry out technical inspections of passenger cars?
Yes. Gab-Trans carries out technical inspections of passenger cars — both periodic inspections and additional inspections (e.g. after structural changes or installation of equipment). This means drivers can be sure their vehicle's technical inspection will be carried out thoroughly.
Do you carry out technical inspections of trucks and TIR vehicles?
Yes. At OSKP Gab-Trans we carry out technical inspections of trucks and TIR combinations — both periodic inspections and additional inspections required by law.
Do you carry out technical inspections of semi-trailers and trailers?
Yes. We inspect trailers and semi-trailers, including combinations with a gross weight over 3.5 t — in line with the requirements for heavy vehicles.
Do you inspect vehicles with a gas system?
Yes. We carry out technical inspections of vehicles fitted with a gas system (LPG/CNG). During the inspection the inspector performs additional checks (including a visual inspection of the installation's components, a leak test, and verification of documents and tank validity), and by law an additional fee of PLN 63.00 is charged; for a passenger car with LPG the total cost of a periodic inspection is PLN 161.00. These fees are set centrally and apply throughout Poland — the basis is the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure on the amount of fees for vehicle technical inspections.
Which vehicles can I have inspected at the OSKP in Suwałki?
As a district vehicle inspection station in Suwałki, we carry out technical inspections of all vehicle categories — from passenger cars and motorcycles, through trucks and buses, to trailers and semi-trailers over 3.5 t; we also handle TIR combinations.
What is the scope of technical inspections carried out by OSKP Gab-Trans?
Full scope, for every type of vehicle. We carry out periodic and additional inspections, including inspections of vehicles after accidents and vehicles referred by authorised bodies. The station operates under the authorisation of the Transport Technical Supervision (TDT) and under the supervision of the district authority (in our case the Suwałki County Office), which guarantees our procedures comply with applicable regulations.
How long does a technical inspection take?
As a rule, the diagnostic part on the inspection line itself takes about ten to fifteen minutes, while the whole technical inspection together with the paperwork usually takes 20–30 minutes; the exact time depends on the condition of the vehicle and the current queue.
Do I need to make an appointment?
You can, but you don't have to. For convenience we recommend booking by phone on +48 572 908 007 or via contact; you can also write to oskp@gab-trans.pl. We are open Monday to Friday from 6:00 to 22:00 and on Saturdays from 6:00 to 14:00, so it is easy to find a convenient time.
What documents should I bring?
Most importantly, the vehicle's registration certificate (paper document). For vehicles fitted with an LPG/CNG system, you need the installation's documentation and confirmation of the tank's validity (approval/certificate). For specialist inspections, vehicles after structural changes, or vehicles referred by an authority, it is worth bringing the relevant certificates and protocols. The inspector records the result in the Central Vehicle Register (CEP) and issues the appropriate certificate.
What is checked during the inspection?
The inspector checks, among other things, the braking system, steering, lighting, suspension, exhaust emissions and vehicle identification; measurements and assessments are carried out in line with industry methodologies, including the exhaust emission measurement and brake testing methods used at vehicle inspection stations.
How much does a technical inspection cost?
The fees are the same throughout the country. A periodic technical inspection of a passenger car costs PLN 98.00, and the additional fee for a vehicle with an LPG/CNG system is PLN 63.00 (PLN 161.00 in total for a passenger car with LPG). The legal basis is the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure on the amount of fees for vehicle technical inspections.
What happens if I am late or don't have a valid inspection?
There is no administrative fine for missing the inspection deadline, but during a roadside check the Police may retain the registration certificate and direct the vehicle to an inspection — this follows from the Road Traffic Law and the rules communicated by the Polish Police. Once the inspection result is positive, the document is returned.
Negative result — how does the re-inspection and the fees work?
If the result is negative, the driver has 14 days to remove the faults and carry out a re-inspection at the same station, limited to the indicated items. The fee for re-checking a specific system ranges from PLN 13.00 to PLN 36.00, in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure.
Opening hours and directions
We are open Monday to Friday from 6:00 to 22:00 and on Saturdays from 6:00 to 14:00. OSKP Gab-Trans is located in Suwałki at ul. Raczkowska 167 — enter through the gate with the VOLVO pylon, about 300 m from the airport road and 100 m from the road to the PSZOK recycling centre, with convenient access also for trucks and TIR combinations.
When must a new car undergo its first technical inspection?
The first technical inspection of a new passenger car is carried out 3 years after first registration, the next one after 2 years, and then every year (the 3-2-1 rule) — this is set out in the Road Traffic Law.
