TACHOGRAPHS
Tachographs — calibration, servicing and preparing your company for the changes from 1 July 2026
If you use vans with a GVW of 2.5–3.5 t in international road transport of goods or in cabotage for hire and reward, the year 2026 is very important for you. From 1 July 2026, tachographs will also be required for this group of vehicles. We will help you organise the matter and translate the change in regulations into practical actions.
KEY INFORMATION
CHANGES FROM 1 JULY 2026
What changes from 1 July 2026
From 1 July 2026, the obligation to use a tachograph will also cover light commercial vehicles with a permissible gross weight from 2.5 to 3.5 t, if they are used in international road transport of goods or in cabotage for hire and reward.
What this means in practice
For many companies that until now carried out transport with vans and were not subject to the same obligation as heavier vehicles, this means a need to prepare in advance:
Important clarification
The new requirements do not automatically mean that every van 2.5–3.5 t used locally or exclusively domestically will be subject to an identical obligation. The nature of the transport is decisive.
The scope of application of the regulations is always worth confirming against the specific business model, type of transport and vehicle status. This page is informational and offer-oriented and does not replace legal advice.
